it’d been there since that night and had pushed him over the edge. his heart turned black and he couldn’t get the tick, tock of the clock out of his head. his mind was completely scrambled, distorted. between the effects of curse, the memories of his parents being killed and the dementor’s kiss… archer broke. he was tossed into a dark cell in azkaban and remained there for eight months. those precautions led to archer being tried for the murders and found guilty. archer didn’t know what evidence the aurors had, but whoever those rogue aurors were, they didn’t want to be found out, so had taken precautions. before he’d even had a second to recover from the curse, he was being blamed for their deaths. the culprits assumed they’d finished him off, so they fled, and all archer was left with was the scent of blood and the sound of the grandfather clock standing over him. eventually, archer’s limp body was tossed to the floor and he didn’t have the strength to open his eyes, to draw a breath in. the pain went on and he was a witness to his father’s death along with it. archer cried out, every nerve in his body feeling like it was being torn out, but it was no use. he was soon thrown to the floor, his wand snapped in half and tossed at his feet with laughter. but there were too many of him and he’d been caught off guard. archer couldn’t take on three aurors all on his own, not when they had an arm around his father’s neck. his father begged for archer to be spared, a wand pressed to his head.

archer came down the stairs in time to see his mother’s body fall to the floor. so one night, those rogue aurors decided to take matters into their own hands and it turned sideways very quickly. he’d avoided jail countless times, and never failed to get away with whatever he’d done in the name of the cause. rogue, corrupt aurors had grown sick and tired of archer’s father getting away with all his death eater schemes. and then not long after archer’s twenty first birthday, that all changed. he was turning into a good, obedient little heir for his father. he was both equally respected and feared, and had slowly come out of his shell to become more powerful, more forceful in order to get things done. archer was to become his right hand man, his advisor. speak of how paris would take over as the head of the avery family and take his late father’s position as second in command to the death eaters. they both had that intimidating presence about them, too. he was well spoken, eloquent, so much so that those who hadn’t seen his or paris’ face often got them mixed up. archer kept to himself, often hiding out in the library with a book on non verbal magic or the like. and if he wasn’t around, a dark glare would usually do the trick. he was loyal to his family, to the cause, but he wasn’t all that cruel to the other students, not when paris was able to handle that for the both of them. but despite that, archer was a quiet boy. on the first day, they’d already given themselves a terrifying reputation. you could see the fear in their housemates eyes as the realisation hit them. slytherin! the sorting hat had called the house for both of them. the two very quickly became inseparable, and soon enough attended hogwarts together. their mothers would soon give them a scolding because boys of their status did not get dirt under their nails. both boys were expected to become the heirs to their family’s fortune and power, so from a very early age they were attending lessons together, learning from tutors and even playing in the dirt afterwards together. archer’s father would always call it luck, but celia and auriel were best friends and had no doubt planned to have their pregnancies together, potions likely aiding them in getting the timing right. it just so happened that the very week archer was born, so was celia and alexander avery’s son, paris. the rosiers resided in paris, and were very close with the avery family. an heir to the french family, one who could continue the european rosier line when the hope of that happening had been so very slim for such a long time. and to their delight (especially cristian’s) out popped a baby boy.
